What is a Mezuzah?
A Mezuzah is a small parchment scroll affixed on the doorposts of Jewish homes and businesses. It contains the Hebrew words of the Shema, expertly handwritten by a scribe with ink and quill. The Mezuzah reminds us of G-d’s presence in our lives and brings blessing and protection to ourselves and our loved ones.

Why does my Mezuzah need to be checked?
Mezuzahs should be checked by a sofer (certified scribe) twice every seven years to see if they have been affected by adverse weather conditions, or by folding (which can cause cracks in the letters), or if any other defect has occurred.
In addition, the infiltration of fraudulent mezuzahs in the marketplace present further cause for regular checking to determine the authenticity of the mezuzahs in your possession.
